The International Circle of Korean Linguistics (ICKL) is a scholarly organization dedicated to the promotion of awareness of, the dissemination of information about, and the facilitation of communication among those in the field of, Korean language and linguistics. It was founded on October 20, 1975, and starting from 1977, it has been holding an international conference around the world every two years.
After the19th meeting of the ICKL international conference in 2015, the Harvard ISOKL (Harvard International Symposium on Korean Linguistics), which had been holding a biennial conference at Harvard University since 1985, has been merged with the ICKL. The merger was completed in July 27, 2016.
The 20th meeting of the ICKL international conference, held in 2017 at the University of Helsinki, Finland, was the first meeting of the ICKL international conference since the merger.
The journal of the ICKL, Korean Linguistics, is published by John Benjamins Publishing Company.
The ICKL listserv, ickl@lists.ucla.edu, is available to all members of the ICKL to distribute news or an announcement or to discuss any topics related to Korean language and linguistics.
